LOFT INSULATION GRANTS

Professionally Fitted Loft Insulation, With A Grant

100% Free Loft Insulation Grants are available to cover the full cost of having Insulation professionally installed if you are aged 70+ or receiving benefits. Don't delay, Apply Now.

Grants of up to 70% are available to anyone else, regardless of age or income. This typically leaves £99 to £199 to pay.

Whilst it is possible to fit Loft Insulation yourself, it works out to be more expensive in the vast majority of cases. Having Loft Insulation professionally fitted with the assistance of a Government-backed Grant is not only cheaper, but there are many extras included such as pipe lagging and draught-proofing the hatch. An approved Installer would fit the Insulation and then claim the Grant on your behalf.

Mineral Wool, Rolled Out In Blankets On The Loft Floor

There are a variety of different types of Loft Insulation, but the Grant schemes we facilitate only allow blankets of mineral wool to be rolled out on the floor of the loft. If you have minimal or no Insulation, 100mm is laid in between the joints of the loft. A further 170mm is then cross-laid at right angles bringing the level of Insulation up to the recommended depth of 270mm. The Grant schemes do not typically provide for the fitting of sheep's wool, recycled paper, plastic, or any other type of Insulation.

SAVE MONEY, KEEP WARM, REDUCE CARBON AND MORE!
Loft Insulation is one of the most effective ways to reduce heat loss in your home. A loft that is not insulated can cause up to 25% of the heat to escape. Topping up your loft to the required 270mm will prevent the majority of the heat from escaping. Once your loft is fully insulated, you will be able to have your heating turned on less often and for shorter periods of time. This burns less fuel, which can save you around £175 a year on your heating bills.

Loft Insulation will keep you warm during the Winter and cool during the Summer. In addition to making substantial savings on your heating bills by insulating your loft, you will also be doing your bit to protect the environment. Fully insulating your loft can help to reduce carbon emissions by up to 800kg per property. Loft Insulation also helps to reduce the build up of condensation on ceilings.
LOFT INSULATION ADVANTAGES:
  • Prevent up to 25% of heat loss through the roof
  • Save up to £175 per year on heating bills
  • Keeps your home warmer in Winter
  • Helps you stay cooler in Summer
  • Reduce CO2 emissions by up to 800kg
  • Increase the value of your home
  • Help prevent condensation in your home
IS YOUR PROPERTY SUITABLE FOR LOFT INSULATION
There are a variety of reasons why it might not be possible to have loft insulation installed. Please check the list below carefully before proceeding any further. In general, if you have good access to your loft; the hatch is big enough to get through; there is minimal insulation already on the floor of the loft and the loft space is dry and well ventilated, then we should be able to assist. Problem areas to look out for include the following:

Reasons Why We Cannot Insulate:

  • Loft hatch not accessible or there is no hatch
  • Hatch too small (must be 16" X 16" to fit a roll through)
  • Too many stored items and you are not prepared to clear them
  • More than 20% boarded and you are not prepared to lift them
  • Too much Insulation already fitted (must be 4" or less)
  • You require anything other than Insulation on the floor
  • There is damp present in the loft e.g. a leaking roof
  • If there are any bats, wasps, mice, rats, etc.
